58/365: All packed up and ready

Day 58: Saturday, February 27, 2010

Yesterday we went on a short outing to pick up a few things. Usually when we go anywhere, Bitty takes a few things with him. Books, cards, etc. Yesterday he actually got his backpack and stocked it with some of his favorite things:
- books (in this case, a series of Dr. Seuss books - "Dot-ter Seuss iss da aww-ferrr" (author)
- Leapster (with his current fave - the Pet Pals game)
- trains (of course!)

He was all ready to go! He's so cute :).

57/365: The fish in the pot

Day 57: Friday, February 26, 2010

More "Cat in the Hat" inspiration :). Except for the word "cow," that one is not from the book, he just likes farm animals.

Bitty loves this part: (and loves to make messes and then say, "now wook whatchoo did! said da fish to da cat")

"Now look what you did!"
Said the fish to the cat.
"Now look at this house!
Look at this! Look at that!
You sank our toy ship,
Sank it deep in the cake.
You shook up our house
And you bent our new rake.
You SHOULD NOT be here
When our mother is not.
You get out of this house!"
Said the fish in the pot.

56/365: A first!

Day 56: Thursday, February 25, 2010

More on this milestone here :).

55/365: Window

Day 55: Wednesday, February 24, 2010

54/365: Planets

Day 54: Tuesday, February 23, 2010

or "pwamets" as Bitty says it :). One of the bedrooms is decorated with a "space" theme, complete with glow-in-the-dark stars and planets :).

Little Bitty loves to play a little game he calls "poow pwamets" (poor planets) which involves me holding him up so he can tap each of the planets, one by one, making them swing and spin around. He loves to watch them and each time he laughs and says, "poow Jupi-er"... "poow Sa-urn"... and when he's done, he giggles at all of them still dancing around wildly and says, "poow pwamets!" lol, he cracks me up :).

53/365: Bedtime reading

Day 53: Monday, February 22, 2010

I know, it's not the first picture I've posted of a sleeping boy (and it won't be the last, they are so peaceful when they sleep!) but this one is a good capture of Bitty's bedtime routine... you can see next to him his books and his Leapster, which help to relax him as he's settling down to bed. And the ever-present sockless foot :). (There's a story behind why he prefers to fall asleep on the couch, another post maybe) :).

Day 52: Sunday, February 21, 2010

The boys aren't the only ones that like to hang out in the Thomas tent :).

51/365: Books in a row

Day 51: Saturday, February 20, 2010

Bitty loves to line up his books so we're always finding rows of books, of varying sizes, around the house. This is the one I found that particular day.

Here are some other recent book arrangements, courtesy of Bitty:

from January:

...and from a couple of weeks ago (this one was taken with my phone, sorry for the low quality):

I love that he loves books :).

50/365: Feet

Day 50: Friday, February 19, 2010

Ever since he was a baby, Little Bitty has always liked to take one sock off and keep the other on. Always on the same feet. One of these days, when he can answer "why" questions, I'll have to ask him about that one :).

49/365: Cardboard box

Day 49: Thursday, February 18, 2010

We finally got a new oven, and of course the boys had a great time playing in the huge box :).

48/365: Return of the Wii

Day 48: Wednesday, February 17, 2010

Our Wii has been broken for a while, and we finally broke down and sent it in to Nintendo for repairs (because we couldn't find anyone locally who could fix it, and it's cheaper than buying a new one). They actually sent it back a lot faster than I thought they would, so no complaints there. We're all glad to have it back - Cuddlebug and Bearhug can play their games again, dh and I can play Guitar Hero, and I can finally try out the Wii Fit Plus that I got for Christmas :).

47/365: Intact

Day 47: Tuesday, February 16, 2010

Bearhug is always picking at pencil erasers, and he'll pick at it until it's completely gone, so we buy these eraser toppers to put over the missing erasers and then he usually picks those apart too. It's rare to find a pencil with an intact eraser in our house, so when I spotted this one I decided it was worth taking a picture of (because short of hiding it, it won't last long!).

Day 45: Sunday, February 14, 2010

44/365: Improvising

Day 44: Saturday, February 13, 2010

Bitty was bored and when he's bored, he gets into things (that we would prefer he not get into) and makes huge messes.

So when he asked for Play-doh, I was all to happy to give him some because I knew that would keep him happy and busy for at least a little while.

Just one problem - I couldn't find any play-doh. Not to be deterred, I quickly looked up a recipe for homemade play-doh (salt dough) on the internet (I LOVE the internet!) and Bitty helped me make it in just a few minutes.

Here's the ingredients, although to be honest Bitty wasn't patient enough to let me actually measure anything very well so we did the best we could and just kept adding things until it seemed right. Well, sort of right. No matter how much flour we added it still ended up being a bit too sticky, but I got it at least unsticky enough to make the boys happy and that's all I cared about ;).

2 cups all-purpose flour
1 cup salt
1 cup cold water

When I asked Bitty what color play-doh he wanted (not feeling like splitting it up to make different colors when it was just going to end up all mashed together again), he said "pink" so pink it was.

Bearhug and Cuddlebug joined in to play with it too :).

43/365: Snow!

Day 43: Friday, February 12, 2010

Dh took this one, but I really like it so he gets to be the "guest photographer of the day" ;)

42/365: You've got mail

Day 42: Thursday, February 11, 2010

The Valentine boxes we made for the boys to take to school for exchanging Valentine's cards.

41/365: Bevo

For those unfamiliar with Bevo, he's the Longhorn mascot of the Univ of Texas :).

40/365: 100,000

Day 40: Tuesday, February 9, 2010

I promise this will be the last picture of my odometer :). I just thought it was cool that it not only turned over to 100k the day that I thought it would, but it happened just as I was turning down our street, so it was still right at 100k when I pulled into our driveway.

(gee, I wonder where our boys get their fascination with numbers from? haha)

39/365

I did warn you I was lacking in creativity that week...

38/365: Ice cream

He loves the sweet ice cream flavor, but still is no fan of the cold, so he eats it a drop at a time by sticking out his tongue :).

37/365: Happiness = trains :)

A two-fer for that day (lol).

36/365: Cleaning up

Apparently Bitty's idea of "cleaning up" was to put all of his toys and books in the cat post. The cat wasn't too happy about it...

35/365: Rainy day explorers

Taken with my camera phone at lunch... these guys are often seen out and about when it rains :).

34/365: Shadow

Can you tell I've been a bit lacking in creativity lately? Was short on ideas, but I liked the shadows on the window screen here...

33/365

Some Brazilian soda that dh discovered when he lived in South America a long time ago.
