30/365: Speeding train

Day 30: Saturday, January 30, 2010

Little Bitty has discovered the box full of geotrax trains that haven't been played with in a long time :). We set up a track and he had a great time putting trains together and running them along the track. The lighting wasn't so good so I had the exposure time set longer than usual, and managed to get this shot of him sitting still enough not to be blurry just as the train went zooming down the hill which ended up with a nice effect (I think anyway).

29/365: Candy hearts

Day 29: Friday, January 29, 2010

It's that time of year again! I love, LOVE the Brach's candy hearts (yes, it has to be the Brach's kind, I am picky that way, lol) and of course they are only available once a year. So, I always make a point to buy a bag of them (just one because I am the only one in the family who likes them) when they come out. If I happen to catch them on sale after Valentine's day and before they run out, I might buy another bag since it will be another year before I can buy them again ;).

28/365: Oven

Day 28: Thursday, January 28, 2010

When I called dh Thursday evening on my way home from work, he told me the oven was broken. The oven turned itself on and overheated... so much so that the screws holding it together were melting and the front panel of the door fell off. It would not turn off so he asked our neighbor to come help him pull it out so they could unplug it and turn off the gas going into it. Thankfully he was home when it happened (and thankfully our neighbor was home too!) and was able to do something about it before it started a fire in the house...

27/365: Pack meeting

Day 27: Wednesday, January 27, 2010

Dh actually took this one (maybe that's cheating? but this is something I wanted to remember from that day). This is Bearhug and Cuddlebug at their Cub Scout pack meeting. Both of them had completed three achievements, which means they each earned a progress bead toward their Wolf badge. We convinced Bearhug to go to Scouts that night so he could get his award.

You wouldn't know it from this picture, but it didn't exactly go well... Bearhug was so overstimulated I had to take him out, but we came back in long enough for him to get his award (and then had to take them both out). I missed Cuddlebug's award since I was out in the hallway, but he came up to help me with Bearhug's. Bitty actually managed to stay the longest in Scouts (and he is not even a Cub Scout yet) but only by a few minutes, ended up in the gym trying to keep all three of them in visual range... kind of exhausting! This was our first pack meeting, next time I'll know to take something for Bearhug to do and make arrangements ahead of time for him to go in just long enough to get his award.

26/365: Miles and miles

Day 26: Tuesday, January 26, 2010

I was kind of out of ideas that day... took this at lunch. My car is getting close to 100,000 miles. I drive about 40 miles a day M-F (I rarely drive my car on weekends), so I figure I will probably cross over the 100k mark on or around Tuesday, Feb 9th. Hopefully still has many miles left in it :).

25/365: Cookbook

Day 25: Monday, January 25, 2010

One of Bitty's favorite books is this cookbook that he found in the kitchen drawer. He likes to read the section headers, one of his favorites is this one, "spesoo heps."

24/365: Books

Day 24: January 24, 2010

Bitty brought the chair back out, set up with a stack of Dr. Seuss books and a bowl of crackers :).

23/365: Sit, sit, sit, sit

Day 23: January 23, 2010

It was a rainy day outside. Little Bitty pulled one of the kitchen chairs over to the window, sat down looking out, and started talking (mostly to himself). I heard "da sun iss wainee, sit sit sit sit" and realized he was re-enacting the scene from "The Cat in the Hat" by Dr. Seuss, where the kids are sitting looking out the window at the rainy day and feeling bored.

The sun did not shine.
It was too wet to play.
So we sat in the house
All that cold, cold, wet day.

I sat there with Sally.
We sat there, we two.
And I said, "How I wish
We had something to do!"

Too wet to go out
And too cold to play ball.
So we sat in the house.
We did nothing at all.

So all we could do was to
Sit! Sit! Sit! Sit!
And we did not like it.
Not one little bit.

~Excerpt from "The Cat in the Hat" by Dr. Seuss

22/365: With love

Day 22: January 22, 2010

I took my flowers to work, they make my office smell so nice!

21/365: Rainy

Day 21: January 21, 2010

View through the accumulated rain on the windshield, taken with my camera phone.

20/365: I heart my husband :)

Day 20: January 20, 2010

It was my birthday, and while I was secretly hoping that dh and the boys had gotten me some cake (because, you know, the only good thing about turning 29 yet again is birthday cake!) I wasn't expecting any presents. But when I came home dh had these beautiful flowers and some birthday presents for me :). He even had the boys sign the card, very cool.

It's not the best lighting, but I didn't have much time as the boys were VERY impatient that I start unwrapping! In fact, Bitty did the honors with the second present, because I took too long actually looking at the first one after I opened it, lol.

Oh, and there was also cake :). Chocolate cheesecake, yummeh!

19/365: Bird

Day 19: January 19, 2010

I was a little worried the bird would be too hard to see, but as soon as Bitty saw the picture on the screen he said, "issa ber." So, hopefully it's not so hard to spot after all. I need a zoom lens! :)

18/365: Cat book

Day 18: January 18, 2010

One of Bitty's favorite books, it's a flip book with one half about cats and the other side is about dogs. Bitty likes the cat side, probably because we have a cat. :)

17/365: Alike

Day 17: January 17, 2010

Cuddlebug and Bearhug rarely dress alike; honestly I think they tend to just grab whatever is closest in their closet without putting too much thought into what to wear. So it is probably coincidence that they ended up wearing matching shirts to church that day (they had different color pants), but they looked cute handsome so I took a picture (trying to be sneaky-like). :)

16/365: Layers

Day 16: January 16, 2010

I never knew candles had layers like this until I found this one picked apart by Bearhug. If anything can be picked at, shredded, or otherwise destroyed, Bearhug is the guy to figure out how. You should see what he does to bars of soap, maybe that will show up as one of my daily pictures ;).

One fall afternoon

I am not a cold weather person. I have lived in snow country before and I really can't say I miss it. I found these pictures I never got around to posting from early October... I miss being able to spend more time outside, and am looking forward to spring!

While Bearhug and Cuddlebug were busy riding their bikes, I followed Bitty around with the camera.

Then we went to the park:

Fall (better late than never, right?)

I've been meaning to post these for a while... I love the colors of fall - the changing leaves, the crisp cool air, the deep blue skies (well, and a lot of rainy skies this year). Some of these were taken at a nature trail that I found near my office, some at home, and some just out and about.

Snow!

More pictures of the snow from last weekend.

15/365: It's a jungle in here

Day 15: January 15, 2010

We brought these plants inside a while back to protect them from the cold (they are usually hanging from the front porch). We had them in the garage for a while but it got too cold even in there so we put them in the kitchen. Makes it look nice :). What's weird is that that plant in the middle normally has pink flowers, but now they are white. I wonder if it has something to do with the artificial light?

14/365: Sky

Day 14: January 14, 2010

Finally, a beautiful day with a clear blue sky. It was also the warmest day we've had in a long time, it made it up to about 50 that day which was so nice after several weeks with sub-freezing temps. I am sooo ready for spring!

13/365: Pinewood derby - work in progress

Day 13: January 13, 2010

Decided to take a picture of the boys' pinewood derby cars at each stage of completion. So far, we just have the cars cut out. The curvy race car in the front is Cuddlebug's, the truck is Bearhug's, and the boxy race car in the back is the one they picked out to make for Bitty.

Taken on the wooden worktable in the garage.

12/365: Icy snowflakes

Confession time - I worked late that day and fell asleep before I could even eat dinner, much less take a picture for they day. Sooo... for day 12 I'm posting an extra picture from the weekend. This is frozen snowflakes on my windshield, taken while I was waiting for my car to warm up :)

11/365: Sleepy

10/365: Math puzzles

Day 10: January 10, 2010

One of many things that we got a long time ago for Cuddlebug and Bearhug that they quickly lost interest in, that Bitty is now pulling out to play with :).
